SOCA：自由生成美學的實踐場域

從工作室到生成境域
From Studio to Sphere

SOCA 自 1986 年成立以來，從藝術家的自主工作室，逐漸發展為一個結合創作、交流、教育、場域實踐與國際連結的文化生成平台。

最初的 SOCA 是 Studio，一個藝術家可以自由實驗、展示與對話的工作室。它回應了 1980 年代台灣當代藝術對創作自主與空間自由的需求。

隨著藝術家、學生、朋友、觀者與國際交流的加入，SOCA 逐漸成為 Society，一個由藝術、生活、對話與共同創作交織而成的藝術社群。

當 SOCA 進入都蘭，它成為 Site。山、海、風、光、濕度、部落生活與日常節奏，共同形成 SOCA Dulan 的島嶼生成場域，使藝術與土地、自然、身體及共同體相互交會。

2024 年賴純純藝術文化基金會成立後，SOCA 進一步走向 Sphere。SOCA Dulan、SOCA Taipei 以及未來更多場域，將形成一個連結台灣島嶼經驗、藝術創作、文化檔案、教育推廣與國際交流的生成境域。

SOCA 的演變，也是自由生成美學在現實中的展開：從工作室出發，經過藝術社群與島嶼場域，走向台灣與世界共同生成的文化能量圈。

Since its founding in 1986, SOCA has evolved from an artist-led independent studio into a cultural platform for artistic creation, exchange, education, site-based practice, and international dialogue.

SOCA began as a Studio—a space where artists could experiment, exhibit, and converse freely. It responded to the need for artistic autonomy and spatial freedom in Taiwan’s contemporary art scene of the 1980s.

As artists, students, friends, audiences, and international exchanges entered the space, SOCA gradually became a Society—an artistic community shaped by art, daily life, dialogue, and collaborative creation.

When SOCA moved into Dulan, it became a Site. Mountains, ocean, wind, light, humidity, Indigenous life, and everyday rhythms together shaped SOCA Dulan as an island-based generative field, where art meets land, nature, body, and community.

With the establishment of the Jun T. Lai Art and Culture Foundation in 2024, SOCA has further expanded into a Sphere. SOCA Dulan, SOCA Taipei, and future sites together form a generative cultural sphere connecting Taiwan’s island experience, artistic creation, archives, education, and international exchange.

The evolution of SOCA is also the unfolding of Free Generative Aesthetics in practice: from studio to society, from site to sphere, SOCA continues to grow as a cultural energy field where Taiwan and the world generate together.
